Guide for Warframe - The War Within (2024)

Pluto

Pluto - Sedna Junction

  • Defeat Vay Hek
  • Defeat 10 Sentients on Lua
  • Collect any 3 mods from Orokin Principle rooms on Lua
  • Craft a weapon requiring MR5 or higher

Interestingly enough, Pluto's junction requirements have nothing to do with Pluto. Pluto itself has a unique feature in that Ambulas, the planet boss, can be dropped into missions with an open-air tileset. Defeating and hacking it will give Animo Beacons, which are necessary to fight the boss battle proper. We will be skipping over this, as there's no reason to do this fight.

Craft a weapon requiring MR5 or higher

The Drakgoon, obtained by opening Pluto, requires Mastery Rank 5.

Defeat 10 Sentients on Lua

Hopefully, this was completed during The Second Dream. If not, go back to Lua and use Plato. Within the first few rooms, Oculysts should spawn. Alerting them will spawn two Sentients.

Collect any 3 mods from Orokin Principle rooms on Lua

Lorem ipsum insert anchor to page when writing it out later.

Defeat Vay Hek

For the first form of Vay Hek, while the strategy is the same, you have the option of running past him to force him into the last area, or chipping away at his health as you go. Vay Hek floats around with his face covered. When the face plate opens up, open fire on it. If you're staying in each area, every quarter of his health, he'll retreat to a new area.

Once you've lowered his health, he docks with the Terra Frame. All invincibility issues are out the window, so fire at will until he disconnects and flies away. Vay Hek drops Hydroid parts.

Warframe: Hydroid

  • Yarr matey pirate theme, heavily dependent on Syndicate augments
  • Tempest Barrage makes for good knockdown damage
  • Tidal Surge and Undertow only really useful with augments
  • Tentacle Swarm summons the kraken, augment makes it a good item farm

Sedna Junction

  • Quest: The War Within
  • Quest: Hidden Messages
  • Fang blueprint

Sedna

Unique Missions

  • Nakki, Yam, Vodyanoi, Rathuum - Another arena similar to The Index, this is more of a straight deathmatch game type. Win to earn Judgment Points so you can face the boss.

Similar to The Second Dream, The War Within is started by going to the codex and activating it.

The War Within

Investigate the Reservoir at Lua

You'll be chasing down an intruder, later revealed to be Teshin, and ordered to capture the decoy he sends out. Like Maroo before him, Teshin fights back when threatened.

Track Teshin

Second verse, same as the first.

Pursue Teshin into the Asteroid Field

This begins as an archwing mission. There are several red lasers to avoid, which is done by keeping the transport between yourself and the lasers. When you reach the end of both sections, it will transition into standard combat, at which point you need to clear the area and do a quick Mobile Defense. After this is done, you'll switch back to Archwing.

Continuing at this point locks you in on the quest and forces you into solo mode for the rest of The War Within.

Infiltrate the Grineer Asteroid Fortress

Welcome to the Kuva Fortress. You have the option of either running past everything or stealth around the scanners, and both are feasible. You will be tasked with finding elevator keys, similar to datamasses and Mobile Defense targets.

Operator Mode Established

Attempt to reestablish the Somatic Link like in The Second Dream, firing your beam at the blue orb. Things don't go according to plan as everything turns on you, so get to the navigation console. This puts you on a snowy mountain. Follow the path, interact with Teshin, and use your beam to clear the ice off the statue before powering it up.

Now you're in a pit with a Golden Maw. Right now, all you can do is sprint and jump, so wait until it's far away from you before making the mad dash. Once you reach the end of the chamber, you will unlock Void Blast. Shortly thereafter, you'll unlock Void Dash. Both of these require energy shown on your crosshair, but you can chain dashes together so long as you have the energy to do another one. After using these to cross another chamber, you unlock Void Mode, a channeled invisibility/invincibility mode. After a dialogue choice, you will unlock Transference. Stun a Golden Maw with Void Blast, then transfer to it to escape the trial.

After a sequence, you'll be back in the Kuva Fortress. The Elder Queen will sic her guards on you. Disarm them by switching to Operator, using Void Blast or dashing through them, then switch back to your Warframe to damage them. The Operator cannot be killed, just forced back into the Warframe, though it does lower the Warframe's total health temporarily. Killing two guardians allows for three of the Queen's braids to be destroyed. Repeat the process to fight Teshin.

Don't use Operator mode on Teshin, as he can easily restrain you. Stick to your Warframe and beat on him with your melee. Once he goes down, it's just you and the Queen. Switch to Operator mode now and wait for her shield to drop before dashing through her.

Return to the Mountain Pass

Continue along the path, using your new Operator powers to clear the way. Charge up the sculpture, and instead of dropping you, there will be new platforms. Reach the top of the summit for another cutscene and ending the quest.

Completing The War Within unlocks quite a lot. For small rewards, you are given an Orvius blueprint, a Riven mod, and the Broken Scepter, a staff that comes with a slot and catalyst. Riven mods have a requirement to be met before unlocking, which results in a mod for a specific weapon. You can reroll the stats themselves with Kuva, but the weapon it's used on stays the same. Additionally, you get a new segment for the Orbiter, the Personal Quarters Segment. Build this when possible, as it will be needed to continue the story later.

For larger rewards, the Kuva Fortress is now opened. Any planet it is near spawns Kuva Siphon missions, which serve as your source of Kuva. Additionally, Sorties are now unlocked and your Transcendence ability is now replaced with Transference, making Operator Mode available whenever you'd like. For a solid reason of why you'd want to do that, the adaptive shields of Sentient enemies as well as the Stalker are erased when hit by the Operator's Void Beam. It doesn't stop future resistances, but they can always be cleared by the Operator.

Defeat Kela de Thaym

Continue through Sedna by reaching Naga, Adaro, Selkie, then Marid. At Nakki, you will engage in Rathuum, a deathmatch style map where you face Grineer Executioners. I recommend sticking to Nakki, as Yam and Vodyanoi oddly don't reward that much more. Once you work up 25 Judgment Points, you can challenge Kela de Thaym at Merrow.

To reach Kela, at the first objective, you'll have a number of pressure pads equal to the number of players in your squad. Once everyone is on their pad, look towards the wall and shoot the rotating pad when the green light is visible. Rollers will be deployed to make your life miserable, so either bring something to deal with them or hopefully have a Frost to slow them down. Once everyone's done, the boss fight begins.

As usual, dodging is better than tanking, and that holds true here. Kela slams down on the center platform and jumps to side platforms deploying rollers and sentries. Once you deal enough damage, she retreats and starts with an orbital strike. When the counter runs out, if you don't have a Limbo Cataclysm in the center, keep moving around the edges to avoid getting hit. When the timer reappears, get back to the center; on the side will be the same rotating pads. Once all are done, which can happen over multiple strikes, Kela returns, this time being able to zipline between platforms and fire missiles. Repeat the cycle, and on the third, Kela goes down. She drops mods unique to her boss fight, a possible Twin Kohmak blueprint, and parts of Saryn.

  • Saviour of Sedna

Kill the boss in the Sedna region and get to extraction.

Warframe: Saryn

  • Power-based frame that infects everything
  • Spores spreads a disease that does more damage the longer it spreads
  • Molt gives a decoy, Toxic Lash ups melee damage
  • Miasma gasses everyone, does triple damage to spore targets

Weapon: Twin Kohmak

Much like all dual wield variants, you trade reload time for clip size. Kohmak fires more pellets the longer you keep holding the trigger, and the damage can ramp up quickly.

12. Interlude - Eris and Lua10. The Second Dream - Neptune
