Gregory, run!
~ Cassie warning "Gregory" about Roxanne Wolf.

Cassie is the main protagonist of Ruin, the sequel DLC to Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, and a cameo character at the end of Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2.

She is a young girl who is friends with Gregory. She came to rescue him from Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex long after it went into disrepair, unaware that she was actually being lured to the location by the Mimic so that it can be freed.

Appearance[]

Cassie is a young girl with dark skin and brunette pigtailed hair. She wears a red cardigan, ripped denim shorts, two bracelets, black legging and light-up trainers, as well as green painted nails. The cardboard cutouts of her birthday party in the V.A.N.N.I network depict her with makeup resembling Roxy's and a different face shape due to being younger then.

Personality[]

Just like her predecessor Gregory, Cassie is a curious and inquisitive young girl, frequently pointing out small details and remarking on them. She also shares the latter's sassiness and snarky behaviour, frequently getting mad at the different obstacles in her path. Cassie also has a rather morbid sense of humour as she jokes about becoming a "Cassie sandwich" despite nearly being squished by an elevator. However, unlike Gregory, Cassie seems to be much more sympathetic as she frequently expresses concern over the state of the animatronics despite them hunting her. She is also rather kind, showing deep remorse when she reluctantly deactivated Roxanne Wolf to the point of openly sobbing and, while initially disgusted by the her dirty state, she can repair Chica's voicebox, allowing her to talk again.

Biography[]

Cassie's background is unknown aside from the fact that she was born on the 11th of an unspecified month and has a father who works or worked for Fazbear Entertainment as a technician. Her favorite animatronic at Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex is Roxanne Wolf and her only friend is Gregory, the two having met when he came to comfort her when she was crying one time, as indicated by some cut-outs in the V.A.N.N.I. system. Cassie once had a party at the Pizzaplex where none of her friends arrived; that was the day she met and befriended Roxy and possibly even Gregory.

Long after the Pizzaplex closed down and went into disrepair following an earthquake, Cassie got a message from Gregory claiming that he was trapped in the location, prompting her to come and rescue him. There, she was given a security mask that allowed her to access the V.A.N.N.I. system and progress through the ruined Pizzaplex. During her quest, she encounters several ruined Glamrock animatronics, as well as the ghostly M.X.E.S., and avoids being killed by them.

Upon reaching the sinkhole where Gregory is trapped, Cassie descends deep into the Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place location hidden beneath it, eventually deactivating M.X.E.S. and breaking through the wall that Gregory is hidden behind. However, she finds out that "Gregory" was actually the Mimic, a hostile animatronic that was luring Cassie to its prison to be freed. As Roxanne holds off the Mimic, Cassie is contacted by the real Gregory, who guides her through the location to an escape route.

From this point onwards, Cassie's story splits into three potential endings:

  • If she chooses to follow Gregory's directions, she narrowly avoids encountering the Mimic and safely exits the location in an elevator. Gregory then reveals that M.X.E.S. was specifically designed to keep the Mimic trapped. However, in order to prevent the Mimic from following him, Gregory reluctantly causes the elevator to descend with Cassie still inside. This puts her at risk of either falling to her death or being trapped in the Pizza Place with no way out. Despite this dangerous situation, there is a possibility that Cassie may have survived, as Roxy can be heard searching for her. It is also worth considering that the Mimic may have once again imitated Gregory and caused the elevator shaft to drop, as there was a pause and static sound during Gregory's speech.
  • If Cassie chooses to ignore Gregory's directions and turns left at a specific point, she will encounter a dead end where a Fredbear cut-out is present. Should she decide to wear the mask in this location, she will witness an image featuring Gregory, the Helpi mascot from the mask and Vanessa, who was previously controlled by the Mimic, enjoying ice cream on a sunny hill. It is probable that this conclusion occurs within Cassie's imagination, and she is subsequently killed by the Mimic shortly after.
  • If Cassie happens to unlock four doors during the final part of the chase before discovering the Mimic, she will have the opportunity to enter them and discover a concealed room with a S.C.U.P. mechanism similar to the one found in Circus Baby's Entertainment & Rental. By pressing a red button, she is faced with a close encounter with the Mimic (now disguised in a costume), but fortunately for Cassie, it is swiftly killed by the S.C.U.P. It is not specified in this conclusion whether Cassie manages to escape or not in the aftermath.

Trivia[]

  • Interestingly, Cassie shares her name with Cassidy, one of the the Missing Children and the true identity of Golden Freddy.
    • Her namesake could also be a reference to the Princess, which was named "Cassidy" for a while and is generally speculated to be a form of her.
  • While Cassie is assumed by most to be dead after the betrayal ending, Roxanne actually calls her name in the final cutscene, implying she could be merely unconscious and might return.
    • Furthermore, the Candy Cadet's story in Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2 of the young woman and the witch may refer to Cassie going to defeat the Mimic once and for all, though this could also refer to Vanessa/Vanny destroying Glitchtrap at the end of the game.
  • According to Roxanne, Cassie’s favorite cake is carrot cake.

  • She mentions that her father used to work with a Faz-Wrench, and since in the description for the Faz-Wrench, it states that it was used by Fazbear technicians, it's implied that her father was a technician for Fazbear Entertainment.
    • It is commonly theorized that her father is the Bonnie-Mask Bully from FNaF 4, one of Michael Afton's friends who partook in the bullying of Mike's younger brother until they accidentally caused his death. In the game, it shown that Bonnie was her father's favorite character, possessed merch that was common in the 80s, her clothing style matches that of the bully and the Faz-Wrench serial number on the back is exactly the same as the code in FNaF 3 which allows the player to access the Fredbear minigame. Its entirely possible after he partially caused the bite of 1983, he begins to redeem all his mistakes, growing up to become a technician for Fazbear Entertainment and in his fifties conceiving Cassie.
      • Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2 seems to further imply that this is the case.
  • While Cassie has dark skin on the various cutouts, her in-game render seems to be slightly lighter-skinned.
    • This seems to be caused by how the lighting interacts with her in-game model and textures instead of an intentional design choice. Upon being compared, the cutouts and her model's textures have the exact same skin tone.
      • Her model in Help Wanted 2 is updated to depict her with darker skin and more pronounced facial features, making her appearance reflect that of her cutout much better.
  • One of Cassie's rare lines when an elevator falls next to her is "That was close. I was almost a Cassie sandwich!", which is a reference to the memetic line from Jill Valentine in Resident Evil.
  • Unlike Gregory, who is shown to be left-handed, Cassie may be ambidextrous, as shown with her holding the flashlight in her left hand while she holds and uses the Faz-Wrench with her right.
  • Cassie is implied to dislike Montgomery Gator; she calls the AR Monty plush "hard to look at", and when she puts on the V.A.N.N.I. Mask, vending machines with Monty on them are replaced with her favorite character, Roxanne. Cassie also shows no sympathy for Monty and never tries to help him, unlike the other animatronics (albeit she feel gross when fixed Chica voicebox). The reason for this is unknown, but it is possible she dislikes Monty because he is the apparent replacement for Glamrock Bonnie, who was her father's favorite animatronic.
    • It is also strongly implied that Monty murdered Glamrock Bonnie in order to replace him in the first place, although Cassie states that her father did not tell her why Bonnie was replaced, indicating that she isn't aware of Monty's actions.
