100th Day of School Fun & FREEBIE Links (2024)

The 100th Day of School is a monumental celebration in most all early grades, but especially in Kindergarten and 1st Grade! It’s a day filled with counting, building number sense, reading, exercising and practicing fine motor skills. I set up a variety of hands-on centers for the 100th Day of School, which usually take all day to complete. The students spend 20-25 minutes at each center. Sometimes, our 100th Day of School activities spill over to the next day… but that’s okay, since there is plenty of learning taking place!

100TH DAY OF SCHOOL PREP

My kiddos have so much fun on the 100th Day of School! It takes barely any prep to get all of the activities ready. I make all of my copies the day before, and then place each activity in a separate tub so that we are all set for the 100th Day!

100th DAY OF SCHOOL AUTOGRAPH BOOKS

Before completing our 100th Day of School centers, all of the Kindergarten classrooms gather in the gym to collect 100 autographs from our friends! Each kiddo brings their autograph booklet and a pen to the gym. Before heading to the gym, I model how to approach a friend and ask for his/her autograph. Once in the gym, the kiddos walk around asking for autographs. I’m telling you… this is the best and easiest activity! The kiddos are always so engaged during the 30-40 minutes we spend collecting signatures. Plus, it’s great name writing practice!

100TH DAY OF SCHOOL CROWNS

At the one of the stations, the kiddos make a 100 Days Smarter crown. First, the kiddos color the school house and sequence the numbers by 10’s. I use strips of construction paper cut 3″ x 18″.

Then, I measure around their heads and staple. The school house adds just enough length so that the crown fits perfectly around their heads.

100TH DAY OF SCHOOL COLLECTIONS

At another station, we count our 100th Day of School collections. First, we count them by 1’s using this counting mat I whipped up a few years ago.

Then, we flip the mat over and group our collections by 10’s. I give some students cups to place on each circle, which helps prevents objects from rolling or getting lost.

100TH DAY OF SCHOOL GUMBALL MACHINE CRAFT

Of course, we create the ever-so-popular 100 gumball machine! The 100 gumball dots was yet another creation I whipped up a couple years ago. It provides the support my Kinders needed to help them keep track of how many gumballs they made!

I just love their finished gumball machines, and they just love using the bingo dotters while making them!

100TH DAY OF SCHOOL PATTERN BLOCKS

For station number four, we create the number 100 using pattern blocks. You guessed it! I whipped this little ditty up the night before! Then, we record how many of each shape we used to make the number 100 (response sheet not pictured).

100TH DAY OF SCHOOL NECKLACE

At the fifth station, we use our “100th Day Necklace” work mat to count our Fruit Loops in sets of 10.

Then, we string them onto a piece of curling ribbon… which I might add is way better than yarn, since it doesn’t fray! Thank you for the tip, Teeny Tiny Teacher! Plus, this little sweetie came up with a clever way to keep the Fruit Loops from sliding off the other side. She’s such a little problem solver!

100th Day of School Fun & FREEBIE Links (12)

I actually buy the generic Fruit Loops, and they work out just fine! I don’t pre-bag any of the supplies, because I want the kiddos to create their necklaces using any colors for the sets of 10. Some of my kiddos will make them rainbow necklaces, while others will choose to create a pattern.100th Day of School Fun & FREEBIE Links (13)

100TH DAY OF SCHOOL STICKER MAT

To help strengthen our fine motor skills, we use our “100 place mat” to stick 10 groups of 10 stickers inside each space.

100 PUNCHES FOR THE 100TH DAY

Punching 100 punches for the 100th Day is also another great way to build fine motor skills. For this activity, the students punch 10 punches on the ten frame on each page. When the booklet is complete, they have 100 punches!

HOW MUCH DOES 100 WEIGH

The students also determine how much 100 weighs by comparing weights of different classroom supplies. First, they predict which object will be heavier. After weighing and comparing the two items, they record their observation.

100TH DAY POCKET CHART SENTENCES

I also include a little reading at the pocket chart center, especially since it’s so easy to incorporate math.

EXERCISE TO 100

In between each center round, we complete a quick brain break activity. I set a timer for 100 seconds, and we count how many reps of an exercise we can complete. By the end of all of the center rounds, we will have completed 100 seconds of each exercise.

NUMBER 100 LACING CARDS

As an early finisher activity, we use these number 100 lacing cards. Threading and lacing is such a great way to practice fine motor control.

100TH DAY OF SCHOOL ROLL & COLOR

Some years, I use this “Roll and Color” sheet from Sam Van Gorp as a separate center. Other years, I use it as an early finisher activity. To practice our addition skills, I give each kiddo two dice and show them how to add by counting on from the bigger number.

RACE TO 100

Another early finisher activity is this fun “Race to 100” game from Traci Bender at The Bender Bunch. Each kiddo plays with a partner. Some of the kiddos use one game board with a different color teddy bear for each player. Each player starts on the number zero, rolls the die and moves forward that many spaces. The first person to make it to the number 100 is the winner! So much fun!

100 YEARS OLD

We also dress up like we are 100 years old! I wish I could show you some of the kiddos. They are a hoot! You can find my wig, glasses and beaded glass strap on Amazon. My curlers are legit from my grandma, but I found similar ones here. The dress, sweater and shoes came from our local Goodwill.

100 CUP STRUCTURE

Plus, we work as a team to build the tallest structure using 100 plastic cups… an oldie but a goodie!

100TH DAY SNACK

During snack time, we have a special 100th Day of School snack. Each student receives a napkin and a baggie with a fun size Twix bar and two Fudge Stripe cookies. Before eating the snack, they build the number 100 on their napkin. YUM!
